As reported by http://tapinto.net Sea Girt kicked off the holiday season in festive style this past Friday at Library Plaza, where over 500 residents braved the frigid temperatures to celebrate a beloved town tradition. The event featured a bustling craft market perfect for holiday gift shopping, a cozy fire pit with hot chocolate donated by Ray’s Cafe, the annual Christmas tree lighting, and a live performance from a “well seasoned” band. Adding to the excitement, Mr. and Mrs. Claus made a special appearance to hand out gifts to the children, all while honoring Sea Girt’s rich history and community spirit.
Mayor Fetzer spoke to the crowd and thanked the residents, “I want to thank everyone for being here. It’s absolutely terrific to see so many people come out in this cold weather. As my wife and I were walking here today, she reached over and said how idelic this is, and it certainly is. Every year I am amazed at the great showing of the town. The great feeling of being here, and how great Sea Girt is to live in.”
Fetzer continued on by thanking the Borough council and staff. “I want to thank all the council people, and we’ve had a great year this year. There are an awful lot of things, as you know, we’ve been vocal in many of them and instrumental in many of them as well. And the staff has been critical as well. They’ve been absolutely terrific. I want to wish everyone a happy holiday and a merry Christmas.” The Clemmensen family followed the mayor’s speech with the honor of lighting the town Christmas tree.
