Summer is my absolute FAVORITE season of the year!  I look forward to it all year.  The weather, the more laid back schedules, the fresh fruits and veggies, evenings on the backyard patio – I love it all! {well… except the mosquitos!}.  We also love BBQing and having our meals outdoors.  Our patio is east facing so I can get some morning sun while having my breakfast and enjoy the cooler shade once the later afternoon hits. Fun Easter Decorating Ideas

1866709_originalHello everyone! How are you all doing today? Yesterday I decided to get out and start getting everything ready for Easter.

The best part of Easter at our home is the egg hunting. I might have more fun with that than the kids!  I really enjoy decorating our home for this time of the year but I like uncomplicated and easy Easter decorating ideas. I’m not sure about you, but I invest so much time and effort to decorate our home during Christmas that I don’t want to spend too much time and money with Easter decorations.

Like any kind of decor, I like to buy reusable things so I can collect them over the years. I also like to mix the reusable pieces with fresh flowers and plants to add more color and a more natural feel to the decor.

Take a look at these Easter Decorating Ideas. You’ll see that most of them are easy to do and they really won’t take much of your time.

I hope these Easter Decorating Ideas can inspire you to have an even more special Easter this year!

EMBRACE YOUR INNER DESIGNER & CUSTOMIZE YOUR OWN DREAM ROOM

wd_maidenhome_blog_-9_preview-683x1024There are a few things in life I’ve recently realized are nearly impossible to find. 1.) the perfect wedding dress. 2.) a kitchen table that feels like home and 3.) my dream sofa. My fiancé and I spent months, actually years, looking for our dream sofa. And we ironically found it on a lazy weekend afternoon at an Odds & Ends Furniture Warehouse closeout sale. It was just one of those serendipitous Sundays where we both looked at each other with heart eye emojis and said, “We NEED to buy this sofa!” It was the one.

But, I can honestly say, if it wasn’t for that one rogue unicorn sofa, I think we would still be on the hunt.

Of course, after my sofa search came to full fruition, a unique custom furniture company by the name of Maiden Home, reached out to W&D in regards to partnering on a custom interior design project. As I browsed through their website I couldn’t wait to learn more about their process.

Lately, with my own bohemian home decor company, Arden Trading Co., I’ve been thinking a lot about customizing my own pillows, duvet covers, and even furniture. The world of creating your own home goods is so interesting to me! So when I discovered that you can customize your own furniture with Maiden Home I looked at Kate and said, “We need to do this!” How fun!  Continue reading and Wit & Delight

SUBTLE YET STRIKING DESIGN

nest-collage-feature

It’s the simplest design that’s often the most sophisticated. A subtly curved vase, filled with a single flower. A delicately-proportioned daybed fit for luxe lounging. Thoughtful technology that’s easy on the eyes and equally easy to use. When united by a strong overall vision, these streamlined elements can create some of the most comforting, serene, and striking interiors out there. One thing we know for certain when it comes to the items and ideas that fill our home — a little restraint goes a long way! So, here we celebrate understated pieces that don’t need to shout to make an impact. Show us a space with a tightly-controlled color palette and well-chosen, subtle, and juxtaposed furnishings and we’ll show you a room that swoons.

Check Out These Impressive Landmarks Built Out of Gingerbread

2017-12-08_13-09-29

‘Tis the season for recreating our homes and favorite buildings out of dough. Even though no one has put baked panel to icing and build the Gilmore Girls home in Stars Hollow out of crispy gingerbread or frosty fondant (yet), these landmarks both real and fictional have us whispering, “I smell snow.”

ApartmentTherapy.com has put together an amazing array of gingerbread houses that imitate architecture artistry. I can’t take my eyes away!

The Fundamentals of Space Planning Your Bedroom

2017-08-09_12-44-25So you just moved in (that, or you’re itching to move some things around in your existing home). Now what? I don’t know about you, but I’m always so excited at the prospects of a blank canvas floor plan, until I actually have to start making decisions on where to put everything. I start questioning everything! Is my rug the right size? Should my sofa go against the wall or float in the room? Do my nightstands have to match? Before I know it, I’m completely paralyzed by the whole situation and need my trusted design friends to rush over and help ease me into the right decisions. I rationalize my indecisiveness to the fact that space planning and room layouts are so crucial to the overall vibe a home puts forth.

To help, we turned to California designer Becki Owens to lay out some fundamentals when it comes to the art of placement. She consistently creates fresh, swoon-worthy interiors that always feel right on the mark. Below, Becki outlines four things to remember when setting up a bedroom to introduce good, healthy flow. Sleep tight!

ADD IMPACT ABOVE THE SOFA

11-decoration-ideas-above-the-sofa-homebncYour couch is the hub of family activity and a place that guests will gravitate to.
