On select Saturday evenings during the warm weather months, park visitors can enjoy some “Music on the Rocks” at State Line Lookout in Alpine, the highest point along the Palisades Cliffs in New Jersey. The programs begin at 7 PM and are open to all, with no advance reservations required. Admission is $5 per person. Some seating at café tables will be available, or visitors can bring their own chairs. The State Line Café at Lookout Inn will remain open with a special evening menu, or visitors may bring a picnic supper. Adults may bring their own beer or wine if they’d like.
Sat., July 22: “Beauty & The Grease” (doo-wop & rock n roll)
Sat., September 9: “Mel’s Jazz Zone” (jazz, funk & blues)
State Line Lookout is accessible from the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway from its own exit near Exit 3, with a well-marked U-Turn available for southbound travelers. Visitors coming by bus should stop at the state line on Route 9W, from which it is about a mile walk east, up the old closed highway there (adjacent to the entrance to Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory). Bicycles can also gain access to the Lookout area from this point. Click here for detailed directions.
