City Place at the Promenade hosted its fifth annual Woofstock + Friends event this past Saturday, September 8, featuring local pet-centric vendors, adoptable pets, a red carpet, a doggie couture trunk show, tons of raffle prizes. The day benefited and gave exposure to Bergen County Protect and Rescue Foundation (BCPR), Closter Animal Welfare Society (CLAWS), and START II Animal Shelter.
For many, the highlight of the day was the Puparazzi Pooch Parade, where more than 60 fashionable pups strutted their stuff down the red carpet. Skippy, a dachshund dressed as a hot dog from Fair Lawn, NJ took home the grand prize– a one-of-a-kind Willis for President pet bed and gift basket from Pet Valu.
Ambience Boutique’s Wag to the Bone trunk show was a hit with the doganistas in attendance including Apple, an 11-year old Yorkie from Washington Heights, NY who sauntered away in a Wild One zip-up hoodie from n:Philanthropy.
Guests entered the free raffle to win a range of pet-friendly prizes including a $50 gift card from Dog Cakes for Dogs, one free commissioned pet portrait by Pet House and Portraits (who was also on-site with face painting), a gift basket from Fort Lee Dog Walking & Pet Sitting Services, a spa set with gift certificate from Miss Molly’s Lap of Luxury Grooming Salon, and two free walks from Brett Shelby Dog Training. Other vendors included Animal General, La-Petisserie, and Pet Health. The Borough of Edgewater was also on-site registering local pets.
The promenade was buzzing. Guests and their four-legged pals could be seen dining al fresco at the property’s waterfront eateries and stepping out of retailers with shopping bags in tow. BCPR and CLAWS received a dozen applications for pet adoption and multiple volunteer inquiries.
