There is a proposed rail-to-trail walking and biking path that would stretch from Montclair to Jersey City.
According to northjersey.com, The Essex-Hudson Greenway Project, in a release last month, said, “The dream of creating a nine-mile, 135-acre linear park in Northern New Jersey is coming to an end as project financing and purchase opportunities are set to expire.”
The holdup is at the state level, where inaction is jeopardizing funding and putting “the entire project at risk,” said Debra Kagan, executive director of the New Jersey Bike & Walk Coalition.
Residents who wish to signal support for the project can contact Murphy by phone, letter or social media. For contact information and a digital letter of support, visit essexhudsongreenway.org/.
