Inserra Supermarkets Inc. opened the new ShopRite of Edgewater Commons at 481 River Road in Edgewater on Saturday, September 19. The family-owned company marked the occasion with a ribbon cutting alongside local officials, followed by a weekend of tastings and giveaways.

The 64,000-square-foot store, previously an Acme, includes Patsy’s Butcher Shop, a bakery, produce and seafood departments, a sushi bar, and a full-service deli. It also offers ShopRite’s Fresh to Table section with grab-and-go, ready-to-cook, and ready-to-heat meals.

The store will remain open during a two-year remodel. Planned additions include Antoinette’s Kitchen with prepared meals, a hot bar and soup bar, expanded produce, dairy, frozen, and kosher departments, and new energy-efficient equipment.

Founded in 1954, Inserra Supermarkets is a member of the Wakefern cooperative and operates 24 ShopRite stores in New Jersey and New York. The Edgewater Commons location is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
