Leonia Chamber Musicians Society Performs ‘A Passion for Music’

The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society, Inc. will perform their second concert of the season, ‘A Passion for Music’, on Sunday, February 4, 2018.  The performance starts at 4:00 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, located at 150 Park Avenue in Leonia, New Jersey.

The concert will highlight Leonia soprano Wonjung Kim, singing excerpts from Handel’s German Arias, including Süße Stille, sanfte Quelle and Meine Seele hört im Sehen.  Kim will also perform four songs set to William Blake’s poetry composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Musicians Theresa Norris, flute and Daryl Goldberg, cello will also play a duo “A Little Sweet”, by New Jersey composer Stanley Grill.  The final piece on the program will be the gorgeous Dvorak String Quintet for Two Violins, Viola, Cello and Double Bass.  The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society’s members — Theresa Norris, flute; Marsha Heller, oboe; Roy Lewis, violin; Maggie Speier, viola; Daryl Goldberg, cello; and Patricia Dougherty, bass — will be joined by guest violinist Ashley Horne. The annual emergency services Santa and Friend’s Parade will be Saturday, December 16. The Fire Department and First Aid Squad sponsor this annual event as Santa Claus and friend’s parade around town to music with all of the equipment outfitted with holiday lights. The volunteers do their best to bring the holidays to your neighborhood by decorating all of the equipment with Santa and friends handing out candy canes to all.

The parade will stop at the following locations and times: NEW TIMES & ADDITIONAL STOP 5:15 p.m. – Community Center, 5:35 p.m. – Colony Clubhouse, 5:50 p.m. – Undercliff Avenue and Sterling Place, 6:10 p.m. – Undercliff Avenue and Hudson Avenue, 6:30 p.m. – Undercliff Avenue and Hilliard Avenue, 6:45 p.m. – Holy Rosary Church, 7:00 p.m. – EVG School, 7:30 p.m. Edgewater Harbor Main Street, 7:50 p.m. – City Place Mall, 8:15 p.m. – Independence Harbor, 8:30 p.m. – Edgewater Commons Mall.

Jersey Cares Coat Drive

Donate a coat or register now to become a collection site!

Jersey Cares plans to collect and distribute more than 30,000 “gently used” winter coats to men, women, and children in need throughout New Jersey through The 22nd Annual Jersey Cares Coat Drive. Over the past 21 years, Jersey Cares has collected, sorted, and distributed more than 500,000 coats for New Jersey residents through our Annual Coat Drive. Companies, churches, fire departments, police stations, schools, and other organizations will set up collection sites across the state to collect coats and deliver them to the nearest Central Drop Off Point. Jersey Cares volunteers will then sort and organize the donated coats and bag them for pick up. Pre-approved 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations will then pick up their coats and distribute them to people in need.

One_Park_Aerial204-Unit Building Facing Manhattan Scheduled for Fall, 2018 Completion

 DMG Investments today announced that it has closed a $71.6 million construction loan for One Park, the 204-unit luxury condominium building rising in Cliffside Park, NJ with panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline.  The 14-story building topped out in August and is scheduled to be completed in fall, 2018.  The financing was secured by DMG with the assistance of Cooper-Horowitz, Inc. through AIG.

Beaver Moon Beach Fire


On Saturday evening, November 4, the staff of the Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey invite the public to join them to enjoy a riverside fire on one of the park’s old bathing beaches on the Hudson. The fire will take place in front of Alpine Pavilion at Alpine Picnic Area and Boat Basin from 7 to 10 PM. All are welcome to stop by for the informal program. Staff recommends bringing a chair or blanket to sit on, and some refreshments to enjoy. Guitars or other instruments are also welcome.
