The Franz Schubert Bb Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello will be featured in the Leonia Chamber Musicians Society’s concert.
The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society, Inc. will present Warm Music on a Winter Afternoon, the first of two concerts of its 2015-2016 season on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. The performance will be presented at the Leonia United Methodist Church, located at 396 Broad Avenue in Leonia, New Jersey. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $30 adults, $25 seniors, and students under age 18 will be admitted free.
A special feature of the program will be the Franz Schubert Bb Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello, one of the great pieces in the chamber music repertoire. “It has been said about this richly melodic music ‘the troubles of our human existence disappear and all the world is fresh and bright again’,” said Daryl Goldberg, President, Leonia Chamber Musicians Society.
The program will also present the classically beautiful Concerto da Camera for flute, English horn and piano by innovative French composer Arthur Honegger. A string quintet written for two violins, viola, cello and double bass by George Onslow, a mid 19th century composer whose music was admired by both Beethoven and Schubert, will complete the program.
The Society’s professional musicians, all of whom reside in Leonia, perform in the major concert halls of New York City and worldwide. Musicians scheduled to perform in this concert are Theresa Norris, flute; Marsha Heller, English horn; Steven Masi, piano; Roy Lewis and Douglas Chung, violins; Maggie Speier, viola; Daryl Goldberg, cello; and Patricia Dougherty, bass. After the concert, the audience is invited to meet the musicians, make new friends, and enjoy refreshments. – By Luhrs and Associates
