Mile Square Early Learning Center (E.L.C.), a provider of pre-kindergarten 3 and 4 educational programs in Hoboken, N.J., has inked a lease to occupy 14,032 square feet of ground-floor retail space at 770 Jackson Street.
The brand new, state-of-the-art facility will be located within 7 Seventy House, a new luxury rental building developed by locally based Bijou Properties and partner Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation on the Hudson County city’s western edge.
Once completed, the new school will house 12 classrooms, as well as the business and administrative offices for Mile Square E.L.C. in a convenient location just steps from the 9th Street Light Rail Station. It will join existing Mile Square E.L.C. operations at Calabro, Rue, Wallace, and St. Francis schools. The new learning facility is also adjacent to a new two-acre park at 7th and Jackson Streets that was built and donated to the City of Hoboken by Bijou Properties and Intercontinental.
Mile Square Early Learning Center, established in 1979, offers neighborhood children and their parents daily, dependable, and safe early childhood educational experiences in the Hoboken Public School District Early Childhood Program.
A member of the Hoboken community for well over two decades, Bijou Properties has garnered a strong reputation for introducing responsibly-planned residential projects that significantly benefit the community at large by providing essential services, such as charter schools, day care facilities, public parks and open space plazas.
Partnering with Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation at 7 Seventy House, the two respected firms have created a signature rental address that falls directly in line with a commitment to civic duty. In addition to creating a world-class multi-family building with retail and educational space, the two-acre resiliency park at 7th and Jackson Street has added much-needed public green space to the city’s burgeoning west side neighborhood. The park includes a one-acre public plaza with step seating and tilted lawn panel, play sculpture and a large plaza to accommodate vendors and seasonal markets. There’s also a children’s playground, a one-acre green space designed for active and passive recreation uses, a state-of-the-art 6,835 square-foot community gymnasium and infrastructure to capture over 450,000 gallons of rainwater to reduce flooding.
“We’re delighted to have executed a lease with Mile Square E.L.C. which will bring another critical community asset to Hoboken’s burgeoning west side,” said Larry Bijou, Managing Partner of Bijou Properties. “Smart, well-planned multifamily development creates opportunities for community building through new retail and service providers, parks and recreational space, and infrastructure improvements that benefit the entire neighborhood.”
Mile Square E.L.C will be the second business to occupy retail space at 7 Seventy House. Prime Time Cleaners, a locally owned dry cleaner, opened the doors to its second Hudson County location at the 424-home rental building earlier this summer.
