Hoboken City Council has approved legislation to extend outdoor seating until Dec. 31, 2021, in order to aid the restaurant industry through this trying time. Under previous provisions, outdoor dining would be shut down on Oct. 15.
Outdoor dining began as a way for restaurants to keep from going under. In the post-COVID world that we now live in, outdoor dining has become increasingly popular and allows customers a sense of safety.
The vote to expand the outdoor dining timeline came after Governor Murphy announced the return of indoor dining at a 25% capacity with social distancing protocols in place. The combination of partial indoor dining and outdoor dining will hopefully leave restaurants in a more stable place compared to just a few months ago.
